artificial nails & infills

Infills nails can be your saving grace when it comes to keeping your nails look in ship shape, as they hide the exposed natural nail and essentially “top up” the manicure. They work by adding in extra acrylic into the gap, so you can paint over the entire nail and keep the look going for longer. Artificial nails (also known as fake nails, false nails, fashion nails, nail enhancements, acrylic nails, nail wraps, or nail extensions) are extensions placed over fingernails as fashion accessories. Some artificial nail designs attempt to mimic the appearance of real fingernails as closely as possible, while others may deliberately stray in favor of an artistic look.

Unlike most manicures, artificial nails require regular upkeep; it is recommended that they are attended to, on average, every two weeks, however they may last up to about one month. Nonetheless, their versatility in terms of shape and design and comparatively high durability are some advantages they hold over other types of manicures.

Duration: 1,5-2 hours
Lasting Effect:  3-5 weeks

image of woman receiving cavitation treatment

cavitation

Here at Em Team Beauty we offer cavitation peeling to the face, a professional exfoliating treatment. Cavitation peeling is a painless, quick skin treatment using ultrasonic vibration. Although designed for very sensitive, delicate skin that is prone to irritation, it is suitab;e for all skin types. The treatment allows for precise removal of excess sebum from the pores and hair follicles. It provides a smooth and rejuvenated skin (by stimulating regeneration damaged skin) and eliminates bags and dark circles under the eyes by improving blood circulation.

Cavitation peeling is performed with a device emitting ultrasonic vibrations. Water sprayed on the skin produces microscopic bubbles filled with thin gas, which under the influence of ultrasonic vibrations suddenly burst. As a result, the breakdown of dead cells occurs and a young skin layer is exposed, free of excess bacteria.

Duration (with serum & mask): 1 hour
Lasting Effect: 4 weeks
Price: £40   see full price list for more details.

eyebrows and eyelashes

Eyebrows and eyelash tinting is the perfect way to look made up with minimum effort. Your eyebrows and eyelashes will look defined without a slick of makeup. If you're after a more dramatic look you can choose a contrasting shade or you can always top up your look with mascara.

Eyelash extensions are used to enhance the length, curliness, fullness, and thickness of natural eyelashes. Eyelash extensions are synthetic fibres that are attached to the natural lashes. The main method of applying the extensions is by using an adhesive glue to individually stick the extensions to the eyelash line. False eyelashes (magnetic) and eyelash extensions are not the same. Eyelash extensions can come in a variety of sizes ranging from 6mm-18mm with a few curl widths options.

With proper placement, eyelash extensions can make the eyes appear wider and more lifted. With proper care, eyelash extensions should last up to six weeks before all the extensions shed.

Why not add emphasis to your eyebrows and eyelashes, perfect for those non make-up days! You can opt for a subtle touch of colour or we can add more definition to your liking. Eyebrows are trimmed, tinted, waxed and plucked for a beautifully defined look crafted for you.

Duration:  1-3 hours
Lasting Effect: 4 weeks (with proper care)
Price: up to £55   see full price list for more details.

gel nails & extensions

There are two types of gel, hard gel and soft gel. Hard gel gets its name because, once cured, it is tough enough to be made into a nail extension. Nail extensions are artificial nails created by using a nail product to extend the nail past the edge of the natural nail. Soft gel refers to the gel products that are too soft to create a nail extension. This includes gel polishes and thicker gels meant for gel-overlay services.

Gel polishes are used for the increasingly popular gel polish manicures. These manicures are gentle to the natural nail and the polish stays intact on the nail for at least a couple of weeks with high shine and no cracking, peeling or chipping.

The product used to create nail extensions using gel or gel nails is gel, not to be confused with acrylic nails, which are created using liquid monomer and polymer powder. All gel services are performed using some form of gel, which usually comes in pots or bottles of gel polish. Gel also comes in a variety of colours. All forms of gel require curing, or hardening, under a UV (ultraviolet) light, which can be either a conventional bulb or LED lamp.

Duration:  2-3 hours
Lasting Effect:  3-5 weeks

image of womans head having microdermabrasion treatment

microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a modern method of exfoliation where the effect is achieved with a buff and polish of the skin using a stream of fine crystals or a diamond tip and vacuum loose skin cells from the face. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive procedure that helps remove the superficial layer of dead skin cells. The living skin then replaces the damaged cells and exfoliation occurs. During the procedure, the intensity of exfoliation is closely inspected and adjusted individually for each patient, which makes this treatment safe with immediate visible results.

Before the microdermabrasion treatment there is no special preparation needed for the skin but in the five days beforehand chemical creams, waxing, abrasive sponges & brushes and peeling gels & creams for the face should be avoided.
The procedure does not require the restriction of normal activity. Although more sensitive skin may react with slight redness that should subside after a few hours. After treatment it is recommended to avoid the sun and swimming in chlorinated water during the first 48 hours. It is recommended to use sunscreen with an SPF of at least 25. Drinking 8-12 glasses of water a day as this gives the skin extra elasticity.

Duration (with serum & mask):  1 hour
Lasting Effect:  4 weeks
Price: £40   see full price list for more details.

sunbed

A sunbed, also known as a tanning bed, is a piece of equipment with rows of ultraviolet lights, which surrounds a person with ultraviolet rays in order to induce an artificial suntan.

Sunbeds allow customer to achieve an all over body, natural looking tan without the inconvenience and expense creams and sprays. We have one sunbed in the salon and operates during salon opening hours. Sessions range in duration to suit you and your skin. Sunbeds tan the skin at a much more intense rate than natural sunlight and similarly you should take the safety precautions to minimise and protect yourself from associated health risks from UV light. We encourage you to discuss your options for timings with one of our team before using the sunbed.
